DUE TO PREDICTED DENSE CLOUD COVER AND THUNDERSTORMS, THE STAR PARTY PLANNED FOR SEPT. 9/10 IS CANCELLED.   

This free public stargazing event will take place in the beautiful dark skies of Green Lane Park.  Adults and children are welcome.  Provided the skies cooperate, we will have a lovely view of Saturn, and other celestial objects.  

All DVAA Members are invited to set up telescopes for this event!

DVAA members will set up and operate a number of telescopes and binoculars, and members of the public are invited to observe through these telescopes.  The event will take place in the field adjacent to the Auditorium Parking Lot (approximate address 2298 Green Lane Road, Green Lane, PA  18054, or more precisely use GPS coordinates 40.3348995, -75.4859932).   After entering the Park, follow signs for Auditorium.  

The rain/cloud date is Sept. 10.   For last minute weather announcements, visit www.dvaa.org.  If you'd like to be notified about last-minute weather-related changes, register for the event with your name and email.  Also include your cell phone number if you'd like to receive text messages with last-minute weather changes.     

Comfort, Safety and Policies:

• Novice stargazers are often surprised at how cold they can get while observing.  For your own comfort and enjoyment, please remember to dress warmly!
• Please park with your headlights facing away from the telescopes, so that when you leave your headlights will not be lighting up the telescopes area. 
• The star party will NOT held if there are clouds, rain, etc.
  • Should the sky look iffy be sure to check the DVAA website for updates before heading out to the park.  If you have registered for the event and provided your email and/or cell phone, you will receive an update via email or text the day of the event.    
• For safety reasons, pets are not allowed on the observing field.
  
• All visitors must be off park grounds by 10:30 pm.
