HomeAnderson Farm Park Star Party Spring 2023

Members of the DVAA in conjunction with the Upper Providence Parks and Recreation Department held its Spring Star Party on Wednesday, March 8 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. The weather forecast for this event was for a cold, breezy, and clear night. Unfortunately, following a very clear day, the skies clouded unexpectedly shortly after 5 pm and remained that way for much of the time of the star party with occasional breaks in the clouds with the sky finally opening up after 9 pm.

Reasonably good views of Jupiter, Venus, the Orion Nebula, Mizar, M-81, M-82, the Moon, and others were provided to meeting participants. In addition, several participants brought their own telescopes and were provided assistance on how to use them with DVAA members answering lots of questions related to our hobby.

In spite of the less than optimal observing conditions, we still had a good turnout of 25 attendees from the 35 who registered to attend. Supporting this event from the DVAA were Al Lamperti, Bill Montgomery, Wayne Reed, Michael Strizziere, Scott Vanaman, Betsy Williams, and Stan Williams.
