About this event
The Perseid meteor shower is one of the best meteor showers to observe, not only because it can produce up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak but it also occurs during the warmer summer nights. It is produced by the dust and debris of comet Swift-Tuttle, which was discovered in 1862. The shower runs annually from around July 17 to August 24. It peaks this year on the night of August 12 and the morning of August 13. Conditions will be ideal for viewing because the peak aligns with a new moon, meaning there will be no moonlight to interfere with the display.
