The monthly DVAA Astrophotography Workshop is a free, open session for participants to discuss and share images and techniques. (In general, the workshop falls on the Wednesday before the monthly DVAA General Meeting.)
The first half hour of the AP Workshop, from approximately 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm will be a Beginner's Q&A session. So, if you're new to astrophotography, please join us at 7:00 pm and ask away. All levels of questions are welcome. The regular part of the AP Workshop will start at around 7:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to join early for the introduction of new attendees, a special topic of interest from time to time, a Show & Tell session, and for Q&A.
This month's workshop will feature a presentation by Brett Beidler about his recent astrophotography expedition to Chile’s Atacama Desert, one of the world’s premier destinations for exploring and photographing the night sky. The presentation will cover the planning and preparation behind the trip, the cameras and equipment used, working with local guides, and the unique challenges and rewards of imaging in this remote, high-altitude environment. Brett will present a collection of deep-sky and nightscape photographs, including celestial objects and dramatic views of the Milky Way that can only be seen from the Southern Hemisphere.
After the presentation, there will be a Show & Tell session where participants are encouraged to share images they've taken or processed recently, and to discuss or show astrophotography equipment, or projects they're working on. Other topics of discussion may include image acquisition tips, processing workflows, hardware and software setups, and other aspects of deep sky object or planetary imaging.
