About this event

On July 12 Friday Night Lights 2024 will be held at the ChesLen Preserve. There is no rain/cloud date. Every year it’s been a sell-out with hundreds of attendees enjoying live music, tasty treats, craft beer and local wines...AND views through our telescopes.  Natural Lands invites the local astronomy clubs to set up telescopes for the attendees to share views. Those of us who were there in the past recall it as a very enjoyable night.

As usual, I'll be coordinating for all of the clubs. By June 24 I'd like to give the Natural Lands as complete a list as possible of volunteers and their guests, so that name tags can be readied for entry to the grounds. If you want to bring more than two (2) guests then the extras must register at the Natural Lands website. It's $37 for members of the Natural Lands and $47 for non-members. Telescope volunteers and two guests get free admission, but every effort should be made that volunteers and their 1 or 2 guests arrive together.

Bring club banners, club cards, applications for new members, etc., if you like.

It's a very gracious gesture on our part to accept their invitation plus it's an opportunity to share our passion with hundreds who attend and have a whole lotta fun.

If you can bring your scope, please, email Fred De Lucia at fredworld@verizon.net and, please, indicate if you will bring a guest or two and their name(s).

Two guests per astronomer can attend the event.
Location is at the top of the hill, behind the stage.
No free beer or food provided but...
Water and non alcoholic drinks will be located at the Red Natural Lands tent.

The event falls the day before first quarter moon, that will set just after midnight this year. After the event ends at 10PM and the vendors pack out their wares and equipment, we can stay observing for as late as we like, just be sure to let me know if you're staying.

Please, review the "Information for Astronomers" document for more information on your participation and general protocols. Take special note of the Astronomer Details on the document.

Let me know if there are any questions. I hope to see many from the DVAA there.

Thanks so much and clear skies to all,

Fred De Lucia
